Pampas Grass

On the way back to my car, I ran into these giant flower boxes along 56th Street and 2nd Avenue. This is located near the Museum and several large condo sites. It was about 6:00 pm and the sun was beginning to set, but I was curious about the sound of the grass. I put my duel microphones into two separate areas among the plants and let it record.

Ducks

As I was finishing up my trek, I came across a water wall that was on a bank of Lake Michigan. While heading over to record a soundtrack of the swings, I heard the gleeful cries of a young child. I went and investigated and found a young child throwing bread to the ducks. This wall was like stairs going down to the water. The girl was on the last one towards the water. I recorded from the last one with the microphones hanging down a few inches from the water. You can see my location by the “x” on the map.

Bridge Tube

This recording was an interesting find. While walking along the water I ran into the 50th Street Bridge near 6th Avenue. While heading up the stairs to get up to the cityscape, I noticed a tube 3 inches in diameter sticking out of the bridge’s concrete foundation. I inserted the microphone into the tube and recorded the sounds emitting from the pipe. If you look on the map you can see where the pipe is.

From Rock

This location was located directly behind a Best Western. The address for this establishment is 5125 6th Ave Kenosha, WI. It is also located just south of 50th Street. When recording, I ventured out onto some rocks along the bank. I lowered one microphone between the rocks to record the lapping of the water and the other to get the sounds of the birds and fisherman. I also caught the distant sound of a church bell. This happened to be 4:30 pm and the bell went off during my recording.

Kenosha Museum

I started with an audio clip from inside the Kenosha Public Museum. I was sitting at the group of tables you can see at the bottom right corner of the map. It is where the 3 is located because this was the 3rd track of my recording adventure. The time was 3:58 PM on Sunday, October 07, 2007. There were a few families inside with an elder couple who entered during the recording. You also can hear the one at the front desk great people as they enter the facility.
